MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - Grinnell College swept doubles play and then finished the job in singles as it opened 2018 Midwest Conference men's tennis action with a 7-2 decision over Cornell College Saturday afternoon.

Doubles wins for the regionally-ranked Pioneers came from the duos of Sriram Sugumaran '21-Ben Cobin '20 (8-6), Sam Stickels '19-Michael Conlin-Brandenburg '21 (8-4) and Ishaan Tibrewal '21-Zach Lane '19 (8-1).

In singles, Grinnell won at Nos. 3 through 6 with Cobin (7-6, 6-3), Stickels (6-2, 6-0), Conlin-Brandenburg (6-0, 6-0) and Tibrewal (6-1, 6-0).

Grinnell, ranked 17th in the Central Region, is 12-4 overall. Cornell fell to 2-9 overall and 1-9 in the league.
