MONMOUTH, Ill. – Despite outhitting St. Norbert College 6-5, the Grinnell College baseball team lost a 4-0 decision to the Green Knights in an elimination game of the Midwest Conference Tournament Saturday.
The contest got into the fourth inning before going through a three-hour lightning and rain delay.
Grinnell's best chance to score was in the first inning, when
Andrew Shults '19 walked,
Sam Galanek '18 hit a bunt single and
Nathan Zaroban '18 was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs. However, they were all stranded.
The Green Knights tallied two runs in the third inning and solo runs in the sixth and ninth frames while improving to 24-14.
Grinnell, 17-22, got two hits from Galanek and
Benjamin Wong '18 and a double from
Julian Cabrera '19.
Charles Carr '19 had a solid starting pitching effort for the Pioneers.
