GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's soccer team battled toe-to-toe with Illinois Wesleyan University for a good portion of the contest before the visiting Titans pulled away for a 4-0 victory on a steamy Saturday afternoon at Springer Field.
Grinnell had some opportunities in the first half that were thwarted by the Titans, who scored the lone goal of the opening stanza in the 33
rd minute. Illinois Wesleyan, which was issued five yellow cards in the game, made it 2-0 in the 58
th minute before adding goals in the 79
th and 85
th minutes.
Grinnell got off six shots in the game, with two by
Jasper Yang '21. Both of those were on goal. Others with shots were

Max Sorenson '22 and
Rudy Vega '22. Keeper
Jared Cloutier '20 made eight saves for the Pioneers, who are now 3-2. Illinois Wesleyan improved to 5-1.
Grinnell entertains Simpson College Tuesday at Springer Field, starting at 5 p.m.
