Grinnell men's tennis team puts up good fight against nationally-ranked foe

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Grinnell College's men's tennis team gave nationally-ranked Carleton College a good battle before the Knights came away with an 8-1 decision Saturday.
 
Carleton opened up with three wins in doubles, though Grinnell's Sam Stickels '19 and Michael Conlin-Brandenburg '21 played their foe at No. 2 to an 8-6 match as did the No. 3 tandem of George Kaslow '21 and Zach Lane '19.
 
Grinnell got its victory at No. 5 singles, where Cole Hagerman '22 swept his opponent by a 6-2, 6-4 score. Grinnell is now 4-2 on the season, while the Knights – ranked 37th nationally and eighth in the Central Region - are 9-1.
 
The Pioneers are back home next Sunday when Hastings College and Grand View University visit the Bear Center Field House.
