ORLANDO, Fla. – An impressive spring break session was capped off by the Grinnell College men's tennis team Thursday.

The Pioneers posted two wins on the day, edging Hope College 5-4 and then rolling by Colorado College 8-1. Grinnell finished spring break with a 5-1 mark, including a victory over the nation's 38th-ranked team, and outscored its foes by a 40-14 margin.

The Pioneers, winners of nine of their past 10, swept doubles play against Colorado College with the teams of

Sam Stickels '19-
Michael Conlin-Brandenburg '21 (8-1) and
Zach Lane '19-
George Kaslow '21 (8-4).

The Pioneers also won at the Nos. 2 through 6 singles spots with Lane (6-3, 7-5), Stickels (6-4, 6-4), Cobin (6-4, 6-1),
Jack Lunn '20 (6-4, 0-6, 10-7) and Kaslow (6-2, 6-3).

Earlier in the day, Grinnell won its second 5-4 decision in a row. The Pioneers got off to a great start by sweeping doubles with the teams of Cobin-Mince (8-6), Stickels-Conlin-Brandenburg (8-5) and Lane-Kaslow (8-2). In singles, winners were Stickels at No. 3 (6-3, 6-1) and Cobin at No. 4 (4-6, 6-2, 11-9).

Cobin now ranks 20th in Pioneer history with 55 career singles wins and 21st for doubles wins with 57. Stickels is 12th in doubles victories with 71 and 22nd in singles wins with 52.

The Pioneers are back in action March 30 against Augustana College and Ripon College.
