Grinnell women's soccer team continues Saturday Shutout Streak by opening league play with tie

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Grinnell College's women's soccer team extended its Saturday shutout streak while opening Midwest Conference play with a hard-fought 0-0, double-overtime tie against rival Lake Forest College.

The Pioneers posted a shutout for the fourth consecutive Saturday while holding a 12-11 edge in shots. Grinnell, 3-4-2 overall, not only played a nearly perfect game defensively but had yet another impressive effort by keeper Elizabeth Hunt '21. She posted eight saves while earning her third shutout of the season and Grinnell's fourth overall. She now ranks eighth in Pioneer history with shutouts, posting 6.3 in her career.

Esmé Kayim-Yanko '21 had seven of Grinnell's shots, including three on goal. Others with shots were Alyssa Radakovich '21, Valencia Alvarez '20, Lauren Edwards '20, Julia Sheehan-Klenk '23 and Marli Remash '20. 

Lake Forest, 5-3-2 overall, held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Grinnell is right back at it Sunday with a contest against Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis. Kickoff is at 11 a.m.
