Grinnell men's tennis team wraps up UW-Whitewater Tourney with convincing victory

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's tennis team had four players collect two wins each as the Pioneers disposed of Wheaton College 6-3 to wrap up the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament on a strong note Saturday.
 
Double winners for the Pioneers were Michael Conlin-Brandenburg '21, Ben Cobin '20, Ishaan Tibrewal '21 and Adam Burke '23.
 
Cobin and Conlin-Brandenburg won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles and Burke teamed with Tibrewal for an 8-5 victory at No. 3. In singles play, winners were Conlin-Brandenburg at No. 2 (6-2, retired), Cobin at No. 3 (5-7, 6-3, 10-3), Tibrewal at No. 5 (6-4, 6-1) and Burke at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0).
 
Cobin now ranks 11th in Pioneer history for both career singles and doubles wins with 67 and 73, respectively. Conlin-Brandenburg is 23rd in doubles victories with 56.
 
Grinnell, 4-1 overall, faces nationally-ranked Carleton College next Saturday at Lifetime Fitness in Urbandale. Match time is 2 p.m.
