GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College finished off its 2021 home slate with a school-record performance Tuesday afternoon.

The Pioneers set the school season record for assists, recording five on the day to boost their total to 42, in a 4-2 victory over Iowa Wesleyan University at Springer Field.

Jasper Yang '22 posted his third hat trick of the season while pushing his season goal total to an NCAA Division III-leading 22. Yang now ranks second in school history for goals in a season and points, with 50 in the latter category.

Ray Goedeker '22 added two assists, pushing his season total to nine which is second-most in program history. He moved up to fourth for career assists at Grinnell with 19. Dylan Maddux '25 also had two assists.

As a team, Grinnell (10-7) pushed its season goal total to 45 which ranks second in program history. Keeper Carter Benson '24 recorded five saves, pushing his season total to 78. That is tied for 10th all-time at Grinnell.

Grinnell used a quick flurry of goals to take a 3-0 lead not even 18 minutes into the contest. In the 10th minute, Davis Provost '23 broke a scoreless tie when Maddux sent a great corner kick into the box. Goedeker flicked it with a one-touch header and Provost finished it off.

Yang converted consecutive goals in the 16th and 17th minutes, with Maddux assisting the first and Goedeker the second, for a 3-0 edge.

Iowa Wesleyan (1-13) cut the gap to 3-2 with goals in the 24th and 38th minutes. Yang gave Grinnell some breathing room late, scoring in the 83rd minute on an assist by Oliver Northing '25.

The teams tied in the shots battle 10-all, with Yang taking four for Grinnell and Provost adding three.
