GRINNELL, Iowa – The date April 29, 2000, might have seemed insignificant at the time, but it means plenty now to the Grinnell College men's tennis team.

That day's 7-0 win by Grinnell over Illinois College began a streak that continues to this day, a string of 100 consecutive victories in Midwest Conference play. That fact was secured Tuesday when the Pioneers blanked Cornell College 9-0 in the Bear Center Field House.

The Pioneers left little doubt they'd reach the milestone Tuesday, as they swept doubles play including shutout wins of 8-0 by the teams of
Jonah Gilmore '24-
Michael Conlin-Brandenburg '21 at No. 2 and
Ishaan Tibrewal '21-
Henry Bridgers '24 at No. 3. The duo of
Bowen Mince '22 and
Leo Esztergomi '24 added an 8-3 win at the top spot. Conlin-Brandenburg now ranks 21st in Grinnell history for career doubles wins with 60.

The shutout wins didn't stop there, as the Pioneers posted four of them at the Nos. 3 through 6 singles spots. Winning 6-0, 6-0 for Grinnell were Gilmore, Bridgers, Tibrewal and
Paul Elghouayel '24. Mince added a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the top spot and Esztergomi was victorious 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2.

Grinnell improved to 3-0 both in the MWC South Division and overall, while Cornell dipped to 2-1 in league play and 7-7 in all matches. The Pioneers take to the road Saturday to play Monmouth College in a noon matchup.
