Grinnell men's tennis team stays perfect with shutout win over Illinois College

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's tennis team stayed perfect on the season with a 9-0 shutout win over Illinois College Sunday.
 
The Pioneers got off to a solid start in doubles, with the Nos. 2 and 3 teams of Ishaan Tibrewal '21-Henry Bridgers '24 and Simon Kennel '23-Masaki Nawa '23 each winning 8-0. Bowen Mince '22 and Jonah Gilmore '24 won 8-3 at the top spot.
 
Grinnell posted 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at the Nos. 3 through 6 singles spots with Tibrewal, Paul Elghouayel '24, Kennel and Charles Yung '24. Mince won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 and Gilmore earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at the second slot. Tibrewal is now tied for 25th in program history for career singles wins with 47.

The Pioneers extended their winning streak against league foes to 101, dating back to the 1999-00 season, and 160 against MWC opponents overall since 2002-03.
 
The Pioneers, 5-0 both in the Midwest Conference and overall, close out the regular season Monday at Cornell College.
