GRINNELL, Iowa – After going the entire regular season without giving up a singles or doubles match, the Grinnell College men's tennis team kept that streak alive Wednesday afternoon.

The Pioneers blanked Illinois College 9-0 in the opening round of the Midwest Conference South Division Tournament at 10
th Avenue Courts on a balmy day.
Â
Grinnell had shutouts in more than half the matches, with three coming in singles play and two in doubles.
Michael Conlin-Brandenburg '21 and
Simon Kennel '23 won 8-0 at the No. 2 doubles spot, while
Masaki Nawa '23 and
Charles Yung '24 did the same at No. 3. Rounding out the doubles department was the No. 1 duo of
Bowen Mince '22-
Jonah Gilmore '24, who won 8-2.

In singles, winning 6-0, 6-0 shutouts were
Paul Elghouayel '24 at No. 3,
Ishaan Tibrewal '21 at No. 4 and Yung at No. 6. Mince earned a 6-3, 6-0 decision at No. 1, Conlin-Brandenburg posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 and Kennel won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5.

Grinnell, 7-0 overall, has won 162 matches against league foes dating back to 2002-03. The Pioneers host either Cornell College or Monmouth College in the South Division title match Saturday.
