Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Ted Schultz

Grinnell plays well after nearly 2-year layoff in narrow 1-0 loss at Dubuque

DUBUQUE, Iowa – After a nearly two-year layoff, the Grinnell College women's soccer team jumped back into action Wednesday and gave the University of Dubuque all it could handle.

But in the end, a goal in the 30th minute was the only difference as the Spartans eked out a 1-0 win on its home field.

Elinor Arneson '23 was impressive in taking over keeper duties from the graduated Elizabeth Hunt '21, recording eight saves while working an entire game.

Grinnell managed eight shots in the game, with Reese Komsthoeft '25 and Giada Bambi '25 each taking two in their collegiate debuts and Alyssa Radakovich '22, Julia Sheehan-Klenk '23, Jane March '24 and Carlie Duus '24 getting one off apiece.

Grinnell has its home opener next Wednesday when Coe College visits Springer Field for a 4:30 p.m. test.
