Grinnell men's soccer team continues to roll through MWC play while giving Jaworski 150th career victory

APPLETON, Wis. - Grinnell College's men's soccer team continued its impressive run through Midwest Conference play Saturday, toppling Lawrence University 1-0 in a key battle at the Banta Bowl.

The win increased Grinnell's sizable lead in the MWC standings while also handing coach Brian Jaworski his 150th career victory running the team.

Grinnell, which stretched its unbeaten streak to seven games since a loss to Nebraska Wesleyan University on Sept. 17, improved to 5-0-1 in conference play and 8-4-1 overall. The start in league competition is the best for the program since the 2010 season, when Grinnell got out to a 6-0 start.

The only goal Grinnell needed came courtesy of Dylan Maddux '25, who found the back of the net in the 34th minute. It was his fifth goal of the season and seventh of his career.

Grinnell keeper Carter Benson '24 worked his fourth complete-game shutout of the season, making three saves.

Grinnell won the shots battle 12-6, with eight shots on goal. The Pioneers also won the corner kicks battle 7-4.

Noah Guyton '23 had six of Grinnell's shots, Maddux and Jaxon Willoughby '26 added two apiece and Peter Murphy '25 and Alex Liu Nowakoski '26 had one each.

Grinnell steps out of league play Sunday to play at Lakeland University. Game time is 1 p.m.
