GC men's soccer team secures 1-all draw with Beloit

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's soccer team scored a goal in the 36th minute for the equalizer in a 1-all tie with Beloit College Saturday at Springer Field.

Despite the tie, the Pioneers dominated the contest with a 19-7 edge in shots and 11-7 margin in corner kicks. Grinnell outshot Beloit 13-2 in the first half alone.

Antonio Bernardo '24 collected the first goal of his collegiate career for the Pioneers. On the play, he possessed the ball just deep to the right of the box and fired a perfect rocket to the top center portion of the net that the Beloit keeper could not handle.

Grinnell (3-0-1 Midwest Conference, 6-4-1 overall) got four shots each from Dylan Maddux '25 and Noah Guyton '23 and two from Peter Murphy '25, Ryota Matsunaga '24 and Nick Fahmy '26. Keeper Jefferson Kolmer '24 recorded six saves in his first collegiate start.

The lone goal for Beloit (1-1-2 MWC, 2-7-2) came in the 29th minute.

Grinnell opens a five-match stretch on the road Tuesday with a MWC contest at Monmouth College.
