GRINNELL, Iowa – One thing is for certain, Grinnell College's men's basketball team has made a history of protecting its home court against Knox College.
The Pioneers stretched their home winning streak against the Prairie Fire to 22 games with a 107-75 victory Tuesday night at Darby Gymnasium.
Grinnell improved to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the Midwest Conference, while Knox – which last won at Grinnell on Dec. 1, 1999 – fell to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Aiden Gilbert '23 tallied 21 points to lead the Pioneers, while
Adam Phillips '23 erupted for 18 on 6-of-11 shooting from 3-point land.
Dillon Gestring '25 also had 18 points and
Jackson Leone '25 poured in 10.
Tolu Johnson '25 grabbed seven boards and
Zach Rosen '26 added five assists and five steals.
Dean Mazlish '23 came up with four steals.
As happens so often, Grinnell broke away from a close game early with a big run. The Pioneers led 10-9 and opened things up with an eight-point run that included a layup by
John Vincent '26, three free throws from Leone and a jumper and charity shot by Gestring for an 18-9 edge.
Grinnell continued to roll, taking a 57-39 lead into the locker room and cruising to victory from there.
Grinnell hits the road this weekend, playing at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
