GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College athletes cruised to four event victories as the Pioneer women's team kicked off the season Friday night at the Grinnell Opener track and field meet.

Champs for Grinnell were
Sam Reid '23 in the 600-meter run (1 minute, 49.22 seconds),
Keely Miyamoto '26 in the 3000 (11:23.95),
Melanie Oden '25 in the long jump (14 feet, 8 ½ inches) and the 4x200 relay team of
Sadie Staker '24,
Maile Crowe '25,
Athena Frasca '23 and Oden (1:53.35).

Runners-up for Grinnell were Frasca in the 60 (8.52) and 200 (27.48),
Julia Sheehan-Klenk '23 in the 600 (1:52.46) and the 4x400 relay team of Reid, Sheehan-Klenk,
Diana Barba '26 and
Allison Rabbani '25 (4:42.32). Frasca's 200 time ranks sixth in program history.

Staker was third in the 60 hurdles in 10.59 and Oden had an identical placing in the triple jump with a leap of 30-5.

Grinnell had three athletes jump into the program's all-time top 10 in the weight throw.
Annie Filkins '23 is now seventh at 36-4 ¾,
Kylie Galowitz '26 is eighth at 36-1/4 and
Maddy Strovers '26 ranks 10
th at 33-8 ½.

Grinnell was second in the team standings with 49 points, 18 behind champion Coe College.
