Pioneer women's track and field team is impressive in season-opening meet

GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College's women's track and field team was in top form at its season-opening event Friday night, setting one school record, one meet record and collecting several event victories.

Jessie Goodman '26 shattered a 12-year-old school record while winning the 60-meter hurdles at the Bear Center Field House, recording a time of 9.70 seconds to beat the previous mark by .16 of a second.

Grinnell's 4x200 relay team of Keelin Swisher '29, Kate Solano '29, Lily Mayo '28 and Rajanea Landers '28 set a new meet record with a winning performance of 1:48.04. That time ranks third in GC history.

Other event victories for Grinnell came from Kylie Galowitz '26 in the weight throw (12.92 meters), Millie Leonard '27 in the long jump (10.79 meters), Steph Kama Kama 28 in the high jump (1.52 meters) and Solano in the 300 (43.51). Leonard's jump ranks third in GC history and Kama Kama's effort is fourth.

Runners-up for Grinnell were Galowitz in the shot put (11.30 meters), Landers in the triple jump (10.46 meters) and Kirsten Kelly '29 in the high jump (1.47 meters). Landers' performance ranks fourth in GC history and Kelly's is seventh.

Placing third were Mayo in the high jump (1.47 meters), Swisher in the 60 (8.11), Solano in the triple jump (10.08 meters) and the 4x400 relay team of Emily Summers '29, Avery Lampe '29, Brooke Kreeger '27 and Tennyson Shultz '28 (4:24.93). Swisher's time of 8.10 in the 60 prelims ranks third in Pioneer history and Solano's leap is sixth.

Also for Grinnell, Landers posted the fourth-best long jump performance at Grinnell with an effort of 5.04 meters.
