ST. PETER, Minn. - Jonah Gilmore '24 and Henry Bridgers '24 knocked off their regionally-ranked foe to highlight the Grinnell College men's tennis team's effort against Gustavus Adolphus College Friday.

Gilmore and Bridgers, competing in the No. 2 doubles division, rolled past the region's eighth-ranked team by an 8-3 count.

That was the Pioneers' only win as Gustavus Adolphus, which finished last season ranked 15th nationally, posted an 8-1 win.

Several Grinnell players proved to be difficult tests for their ranked counterparts. At No. 1 singles, Bowen Mince '22 lost a 6-1, 7-6 decision and Leo Esztergomi '24 fell 7-6, 6-4 at No. 2. Both of those matches were against nationally-ranked foes.

At No. 3, Paul Elghouayel '24 battled his regionally-ranked opponent to a 6-2, 3-6, 11-9 decision. In the top doubles division, Mince and Sam Rudenberg '25 competed hard before falling 8-4 against a team ranked nationally.
