Esztergomi, Bridgers collect marathon victories in match with Carleton

ROCHESTER, Minn. - Leo Esztergomi '24 and Henry Bridgers '24 each collected singles wins as Grinnell College's men's tennis team finished up a challenging weekend road trip Saturday afternoon against rival Carleton College.

Both Pioneers rallied for their victories at the Rochester Tennis Club. Esztergomi, competing at the No. 2 spot, lost 7-5 in the first set before pulling out wins of 6-4 and 10-8.

At No. 6, Bridgers fell 7-6 in the first set but roared back with victories of 6-1 and 10-7. Carleton won the match 7-2.

Grinnell is 2-5 in all matches, while Carleton remained perfect at 4-0.

The Pioneers return to the friendly confines of the Bear Center Field House next Saturday when Augustana College visits. The match begins at 2 p.m.
