Grinnell men's tennis team returns to winning ways with shutout victory of Augustana

GRINNELL, Iowa - After going through a tough stretch of opponents that led to five consecutive losses, the Grinnell College men's tennis team rebounded in a major way Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers improved to 3-5 on the season by blanking Augustana College 9-0 at the Bear Center Field House.

Grinnell showed it meant business from the start, shooting out to a 3-0 lead in doubles with wins by the teams of Bowen Mince '22-Sam Rudenberg '25 (8-5), Leo Esztergomi '24-Henry Bridgers '24 (8-7) and Aiden Klass '25-Karch Knoll '25 (8-0).

The Pioneers followed suit in singles, including an impressive come-from-behind 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 win by Mince at No. 1. Other winners were Esztergomi (7-5, 6-4), Paul Elghouayel '24 (6-3, 6-2), Knoll (6-3, 6-1), Rudenberg (6-4, 6-4) and Bridgers (6-4, 6-3).

Grinnell heads to Cedar Rapids next Saturday to face Coe College.
