Grinnell men's tennis team opens MWC play with convincing victory

GRINNELL, Iowa - After gearing up with a rugged non-conference campaign, Grinnell College's men's tennis team opened Midwest Conference play on a solid note Saturday.

 
The Pioneers toppled Lake Forest College 7-2 at 10th Avenue Courts to improve to 6-9 overall while stretching their winning streak against league foes to 165, dating back to 2002-03.
 
Grinnell worked to a 2-1 lead through doubles, with wins coming from the Nos. 2 and 3 units of Karch Knoll '25-Aiden Klass '25 (8-4) and Jonah Gilmore '24-Luka Shaker-Check '25 (8-4), respectively.
 
The Pioneers finished off the win with victories at the Nos. 2 through 6 singles spots with Gilmore (6-2, 1-6, 10-7), Paul Elghouayel '24 (6-3, 6-3), Knoll (6-1, 6-0), Sam Rudenberg '25 (6-1, 6-1) and Wilder Cooke '25 (6-0, 6-0).
 
Grinnell entertains Cornell College on Sunday.
