Grinnell men's tennis team looks to continue Midwest Conference title string this weekend

MIDDLETON, Wis. - The Grinnell College men's tennis team will look to extend its lengthy Midwest Conference title streak Friday at Hitters SportsPlex in Middleton, Wis.
 
Grinnell, attempting to claim its 18th consecutive league title and 24th overall, plays Cornell College in the semifinals at 9 a.m. Friday. With a win, the Pioneers would meet either Lake Forest College or Ripon College in the title match at approximately 4 p.m. The champ earns the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III National Tournament, an event in which Grinnell has competed 14 straight years.
 
The MWC individual tournament kicks in Saturday with singles play. Doubles play follows on Sunday.
 
Grinnell has the top-seeded entry in seven of nine divisions. Top seeds in singles are Leo Esztergomi '24 at No. 2, Jonah Gilmore '24 at No. 3, Karch Knoll '25 at No. 4, Sam Rudenberg '25 at No. 5 and Wilder Cooke '25 at No. 6. Top doubles seeds are the Nos. 2 and 3 units of Henry Bridgers '24-Gilmore and Knoll-Esztergomi, respectively.
 
Bowen Mince '22 is the second seed at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles with Rudenberg.
