GC men's tennis team continues to steamroll through Midwest Conference

APPLETON, Wis. - Grinnell College's men's tennis team continued to steamroll its way through the Midwest Conference Saturday.

The Pioneers shut out Ripon College 9-0 and topped Lawrence University 8-1 to run its league mark to 4-0 while winning for the 168th time in a row against MWC foes.

Against Ripon, Grinnell's singles winners were Paul Elghouayel '24 (6-2, 6-0), Aiden Klass '25 (6-0, 6-1), Spencer Skidmore '24 (6-2, 6-1), Simon Kennel '23 (6-1, 6-0), Luka Shaker-Check '25 (6-0, 6-1) and Charles Yung '24 (6-0, 6-0).

Winning doubles teams were the duos of Elghouayel-Klass (8-3), Skidmore-Yung (8-3) and Kennel-Shaker-Check (8-1).

The same three doubles teams won against Lawrence 8-2, 8-0 and 8-0, respectively. Singles winners were Klass (6-0, 6-0), Kennel (6-0, 6-1), Yung (3-6, 6-0, 10-6), Shaker-Check (6-0, 6-1) and Steven Chen '23 (6-0, 6-1).

Grinnell also had players in St. Louis to face sixth-ranked Washington University. The Bears won 8-1, with Grinnell's win coming from Jonah Gilmore '24 at No. 3 singles (1-6, 7-5, 10-6). Bowen Mince '22 also had a strong match, taking a nationally-ranked player to three sets at No. 1 singles.

Grinnell (9-10) will seek to wrap up an unbeaten MWC slate next Saturday.
