2021-22 Academic All-Conference Selections
GRINNELL, Iowa – For the fifth time in the last six years, Grinnell College has led all league schools in Midwest Conference All-Academic Team honorees with 260.
Grinnell's total consisted of 348 actual awards, with some student-athletes earning Academic All-Conference honors in two or three sports. Illinois College was a distant second behind Grinnell's 260 honorees with 173.
The criteria to become an Academic All-Conference selection includes a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.33 which is calculated only in the awarded academic year. Freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors who letter in any of the MWC's fall, winter or spring sports are eligible for the award.
Grinnell's dominance can be seen in the fact the Pioneers had the most Academic All-Conference selections in all three sports seasons, with 93 in the fall, 127 in the winter and 101 in the spring.
Of the 18 league-sponsored sports, Grinnell had the most selections in more half with 11 – men's cross country (15), women's cross country (17), women's soccer (26), men's basketball (16), men's indoor track and field (27), women's indoor track and field (26), men's swimming and diving (20), women's swimming and diving (23), men's tennis (11), men's outdoor track and field (24) and women's outdoor track and field (28).
