Grinnell netters notch yet another 5-set victory in decision at IC

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - Five-set matches and Grinnell College's volleyball team are proving to be a successful pairing.

In the digs department, Payton Lowrey '23 led with 28. Brewer came up with 16, Emmy Nyquist '24 had 15 and Sophie Weber '25 tallied 14.

After losing the first set, Grinnell got some breathing room in the second with a 7-1 run that turned a tie into an 18-12 lead. Taka and Miles each had two kills during the spurt. Illinois College won a tight battle in the fourth set and took an early 3-1 lead in the fifth. The Pioneers later trailed 6-5 before going on a 9-1 spurt to all but put the match away. Miles had two kills during that run, while Jenna Keller '24, Brewer and Taka added one each. The Lady Blues then scored to close within 14-8, but followed with a service error to secure Grinnell's win.
