GRINNELL, Iowa – What a difference a month can make.
 
Thanks in part to some red-hot shooting from 3-point land, Grinnell College's women's basketball team avenged last month's 10-point loss at Lawrence University by toppling the Vikings 74-46 Saturday afternoon at Darby Gymnasium.
 
The win, which stretched Grinnell's home winning streak against Lawrence to 14 games dating back to 2006, came in part due a 44 percent success rate from 3-point land. That figure ranks ninth in program history.
 
Grinnell, was has won three of its last four games, made a season-high 11 shots from 3-point land on 25 attempts. Skylar Thomas '26 and Elena Friedman '24 each had career-best point totals with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Friedman was 3-of-5 from 3-point range, as was Kelsey Ericksen '26. Nikki Ware '25 and Aiyana Rockwell '24 each scored 10 points.
 
Sara Booher '25 added eight rebounds for Grinnell (5-8, 2-4 Midwest Conference) and Rockwell and Eva Carchidi '24 each had career-bests with seven and five. Rockwell, Carchidi, Ware and Erin Lillis '24 were credited with two assists each and Lillis also had three steals.
 
The Pioneers led from start to finish, getting out to a 7-0 lead on a bucket by Lillis, another by Thomas and a trey from Thomas.
 
Grinnell led 21-7 after one period and 42-22 by halftime. Lawrence (6-9, 2-4) climbed within 52-35 by the end of three quarters, but any hopes of a comeback were squelched as the Pioneers went on a 22-11 run in the final frame.
 
Grinnell is at home again Wednesday when Monmouth College visits Darby Gymnasium for a 5:30 p.m. game.
