GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's women's tennis team closed out the fall portion of its season in style, claiming eight of nine flight titles at the Midwest Conference Individual Championships Sunday at Nielsen Tennis Complex.
 
Winning eight flight titles matched the feat by last year's Pioneer squad. Two-time champs Sunday included 
Ioanna Giannakou '24, 
Isa Voinescu '26 and 
Paige Sargent '27.
 
Giannakou was the champ at No. 1 singles and doubles, giving her seven MWC individual titles in her career.
 
Sargent won No. 2 singles and doubles, teaming up with Voinescu to claim the latter. Voinescu was also champ at No. 5 singles. 
Lily Perrin '25 joined Giannakou at No. 1 doubles, boosting her career MWC title total to three.
 
Rounding out Grinnell's list of singles champs were 
Utsah Kalra '25 at No. 4 and 
Nichole Henning '26 at No. 6. Kalra now owns three MWC individual titles.
 
Grinnell also won No. 3 doubles with the duo of 
Anika Sheth '26 and 
Sydney Marin '25.
 
Giannakou, the third seed at No. 1 singles, knocked off the top seed from Lake Forest College 6-4, 6-4 in the title match. At the second slot, the top-seeded Sargent posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over the second seed from Lake Forest in the title match.
 
Kalra was the top seed at No. 4 and beat the second seed from Lake Forest by consecutive 6-1 scores, while the top-seeded Voinescu also beat a second seed from Lake Forest by a 7-5, 6-4 count for the crown. At No. 6, Henning was the top seed and lived up to it with a 6-0, 6-3 win over the second seed from Lake Forest.
 
All three Grinnell doubles teams lived up to their top seeds and beat second-seeded Lake Forest teams in the finals. At No. 1, Giannakou and Perrin beat the fourth seed from Cornell College 8-2 before topping a Forester squad 8-6.
 
Voinescu and Sargent won 8-0 against the fourth seed from Cornell before beating the Foresters 8-4. Sheth and Marin earned an 8-0 shutout win over the fourth seed from Illinois College before working past a Forester squad 8-4 for the title.
 
At No. 3 singles, Perrin was the second seed and lost a hard-fought 6-4, 6-1 decision to the top seed from Lake Forest in the finals.
 
Giannakou moved up to 11
th all-time at Grinnell with 55 doubles victories and 18
th for singles wins with 42. Perrin is 19
th in doubles victories with 49.
