Grinnell begins big weekend by taking care of Ripon netters

RIPON, Wis. - Grinnell College began its key two-match Midwest Conference road swing on a strong note Friday night, disposing of Ripon College in four sets.

The Pioneers served up 15 aces, the eighth-most in program history for a four-set match, while winning by scores of 25-19, 25-13, 21-25 and 25-12. 

The victory keeps Grinnell's MWC title hopes alive at 4-1 in the league while improving to 12-14 overall. Ripon fell to 1-5 in the league and 8-17 in all matches.

Kylie Snell '27 posted career-bests of nine kills and four blocks for Grinnell, while Sophie Weber '25 served a career-best five aces.

Grinnell had one of its best hitting nights of the season, compiling a .245 efficiency. Jenna Keller '24 led Grinnell with 14 kills, while Hayley Taka '26 and Millie Leonard '27 had 12 each. Keller hit .270 and Leonard was at .269.

Emily Brewer '24 had 47 assists, while Weber had 26 digs and Brewer contributed 12.

Grinnell has a huge MWC test Saturday at Lake Forest College, which lost a five-setter to MWC unbeaten Cornell College Friday night.
