Depth paves the way for Grinnell College men's swimming and diving team in home victory

GRINNELL, Iowa - Depth proved to be the key for the Grinnell College men's swimming and diving team in a 173-107 victory over Iowa Central Community College Friday night at Russell K. Osgood Pool.

The teams were nearly split on event victories, but placings deep into events were the key for the Pioneers.

Noah Tsukuda '27, Benke Grobler '27, Toby Frick '24, Kevin Fitzgerald '25 and Ethan Yuen '24 were all double winners for Grinnell. Grobler entered his name onto the program's all-time top 20 leaderboard in his wins, as he claimed top honors in the 100-yard breaststroke (1 minute, .57 seconds, 19th all-time at GC) and 200 breaststroke (2:12.08, 14th all-time).

Tsukuda swam the 14th-best time in program history while winning the 1650 freestyle in 16:57.45. He also won the 500 freestyle in 4:55.84. Frick won both diving events, taking first in 1-meter with a score of 197.78 and 3-meter with a total of 210.98.

Fitzgerald was tops in the 200 backstroke and 400 individual medley with times of 1:58.36 and 4:20.76, respectively. Yuen claimed top honors in the 100 and 200 butterflies in 50.74 and 1:54.06. Adam Feilmeyer '25 rounded out Grinnell's list of winners, tasting victory in the 50 freestyle in 22.11.

Grinnell was runner-up in the 200 medley relay in 1:34.88, the 10th-best time in program history. Swimmers were Rommin Adl '26, Yuen, Theo Mott '24 and Feilmeyer. Yuen, Feilmeyer, Josh Sutton '24 and Adl were second in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:11.24.

Other runners-up for Grinnell were Antoni Staszkiewicz '27 in the 1650 freestyle (17:10.00) and 200 backstroke (2:00.33), Adl in the 100 backstroke (52.75) and Grobler in the 400 individual medley (4:22.24).

The Pioneers swim at Luther College on Saturday.
