GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's Sam Heller '23 and Ben Johnson '23 capped spectacular campaigns with the Pioneer men's swimming and diving squad by earning a spot on the NCAA Division III Academic All-District® Team.
 
The Academic All-District® Team, selected by College Sports Communicators including Grinnell Sports Information Director Ted Schultz, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in March.
 
Heller is an economics major from Grey Eagle, Minn., while Johnson is a biology major from Rochester, Minn.
 
Heller claimed two Midwest Conference titles in his career, winning top honors in this year's 1-meter event and taking the 3-meter crown in 2020. He entered the all-time leaders list for Grinnell in both events this season.
 
Johnson was the MWC champ in the 200-yard breaststroke and 400 individual medley at this year's league meet. He is third on Grinnell's all-time leader board in the 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley and fourth in the 400 individual medley. Johnson is also eighth in the 1000 and 1650 freestyles and 16^th in the 200 butterfly.
