Graceland shuts down Grinnell bats in softball sweep

LAMONI, Iowa - Graceland University's pitching held down the Grinnell College softball team as the Yellowjackets eked out victories of 4-0 and 3-0 in non-conference action Tuesday.

Grinnell managed just one hit in the opener and two in the second game while moving to 14-10 overall. Graceland improved to 19-13 with the sweep.

In the opener, the hosts scored all their runs in the second inning with a pair of two-RBI hits.

Grinnell got its hit in the third inning, a single by Kambria Anson '24. Christin Hartman '24 tossed a five-hitter for the Pioneers and struck out four.

In the second game, the Yellowjackets scratched out a run in the first inning and two in the second. Anson had both of Grinnell's hits, a single in the first inning and triple in the fourth. Emma Trani '26, Kathryn Vermeulen '24 and Lane Kohler '25 shared pitching duties for Grinnell. Vermeulen struck out three batters in 3.2 innings and Kohler struck out one in one inning.

The Pioneers have a big home weekend approaching, entertaining Midwest Conference foes Lake Forest College Saturday and Beloit College Sunday.
