LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Grinnell College's men's tennis team stretched its winning streak against Midwest Conference foes to 174, dating back to the 2002-03 season, by blanking Lake Forest College 9-0 Saturday.
Grinnell, ranked 12
th in the Central Region, had two wins apiece from
Leo Esztergomi '24,
Karch Knoll '25,
Lucas Willett '26,
Sam Rudenberg '25 and
Aiden Klass '25.
Esztergomi won 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 at No. 1 singles in a battle of regionally-ranked players. Other singles winners, in order, were
Wilder Cooke '25 (6-1, 6-1), Knoll (6-0, retired), Willett (6-1, 6-3), Rudenberg (6-0, 6-4) and Klass (6-2, 6-2).
Winning doubles teams were the duos of Esztergomi-Klass at No. 1 (8-3), Rudenberg-
Deuce Daniel '26 at No. 2 (8-1) and Knoll-Willett at No. 3 (8-0).
Grinnell, 10-7 overall and 2-0 in the league, has posted shutouts in 21 of its last 24 matches against MWC foes. Lake Forest fell to 5-8 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Grinnell hosts Ripon College and Lawrence University next Saturday.
