GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's volleyball team bounced back in a big way Saturday to finish off its own tournament with a "W."
After being swept by unbeaten University of Wisconsin-Stout to open the day at Darby Gymnasium, Grinnell responded with three-set sweep over Crown College. That gave GC at 3-1 record at the tourney.
Grinnell toppled Crown College 25-13 25-16 and 25-22 to end the day. The Pioneers, who held Crown to just a .027 hitting efficiency, had a balanced hitting attack with
Avery Richardson '24 getting nine kills and
Rachel Woock '24 adding eight.
Emily Brewer '24 added 18 assists and
Julianna Vajda '24 served up two aces.
Malaina Miles '24 tallied three total blocks, while Vajda led the charge in digs with 15.
Gabby Choy '27 and All-Tourney Team selection
Sophie Weber '25 had 12 digs apiece.
UW-Stout beat Grinnell 25-23, 25-18 and 26-24 to start the day. All-Tourney Team selection
Jenna Keller '24 led the way for Grinnell with 12 kills and Brewer added 19 assists. Keller and Weber posted three aces apiece.
Weber also had 27 digs for the Pioneers, who are 3-1 overall.
The Pioneers are back at home Tuesday when American Rivers Conference foe Buena Vista University visits Darby Gymnasium. First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
