Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Ted Schultz

Pioneer women's soccer team remains unbeaten in MWC play with yet another shutout

GRINNELL, Iowa - The shutouts keep coming for the Grinnell College women's soccer team.

The Pioneers blanked a foe for the third time in four outings, and sixth time this season, with a 3-0 victory over Ripon College Saturday at Springer Field.

The staunch Pioneer defense limited Ripon to just two shots. Grinnell had 25 shots itself, including a 16-0 edge in the final half. The Pioneers also won the corner kicks battle by a 15-0 margin.

Grinnell's scoring was spread out, with Giada Bambi '25, Ramona Delborne '26 and Jane March '24 all finding the back of the net. Pioneer keeper Peyton Dixon '27 notched two saves in picking up her sixth shutout of the year.

Grinnell remained unbeaten in Midwest Conference play at 2-0-1 while moving to 4-2-3 overall. Ripon fell to 0-2-1 in the MWC and 4-3-3 in all matches.

Grinnell shot out to a 1-0 halftime lead on Bambi's goal in the 22nd minute. Bambi gained possession of the ball several yards out at the top of the box. She lofted in a perfectly-placed shot, which went over the Ripon keeper's head and into the goal. It was Bambi's first goal of the season and fifth in her career.

Delborne made it 2-0 just a few minutes after halftime, recording her first goal of the season and second in her career. On the play, Tali Berk '24 delivered a hard shot that the Ripon keeper knocked away. However, Delborne was in the right place at the right time, closing in toward the goal and tapping the ball into the net.

March finished off the scoring just six minutes later with her third goal of the season and 10th in her career. Berk had the assist on the play, gaining control of the ball on the left side and working her way toward the box. She sent a pass into March, who one-touched the ball and fired to the right of the keeper and in the net.

Katie Carson '25 and Rama Joshi '27 each had three shots for Grinnell, while March and Berk added three each. Bambi, Amelia Duenas '26 and Allison Wehrman '24 had two shots apiece.

The Pioneers entertain Illinois College next Saturday at 11 a.m.
