GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College's men's soccer team hung right with University of Dubuque team in a physical contest Tuesday afternoon, even holding an upper hand in the first half and outshooting the Spartans 16-14 for the contest.

But a goal early in the second half and two more 20 minutes later allowed Dubuque to escape Springer Field with a 3-0 non-conference victory.

Grinnell held a 9-4 edge in corner kicks during the contest and had multiple scoring opportunities get turned away by the Spartans in both halves.

Dubuque grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 45
th minute and held the narrow margin before scoring in the 65
th and 68
th minutes.

Grinnell's offense featured a balanced offensive attack, with
Oliver Northing '26,
Demi Oni '27 and
Jonah Kaplan '27 each taking three shots and
Dylan Maddux '25 and
Anthony Hong '27 two apiece.

Carter Benson '24 turned away six shots in goal.

Grinnell is now 2-1 on the season, while Dubuque moved to 1-2. The Pioneers are at Central College in Pella Saturday. Kickoff is at noon.
