Brewer hits 3,000-assist milestone as Grinnell stretches winning streak over Beloit

GRINNELL, Iowa - A milestone night for the team's senior setter highlighted another victory by Grinnell College's volleyball squad over Beloit College Tuesday night.

Emily BrewerEmily Brewer '25 became just the fourth Pioneer to reach the 3,000-assist mark in a 25-11, 25-21, 25-20 win at Darby Gymnasium. It was not only Grinnell's sixth victory in a row over Beloit, but the third consecutive sweep over the Bucs.

Grinnell (13-5, 1-0 Midwest Conference) posted a season-best hitting percentage of .311, recording 43 kills in the process. At the same time, the hosts limited Beloit (1-12, 0-1 MWC) to a .090 efficiency.

The Pioneers' Keira Sullivan '27 had 13 kills and Millie Leonard '27 added 10, hitting .345 and .500, respectively. Nicole Mlynski '26 added a career-best .385 efficiency.

Brewer had 16 assists and now has 3,005 in her career. Kylie-Ann Smith '27 added 12 assists. Grinnell served up eight aces, including three by Gracie Lim '28 and two each by Jenna Keller '25 and Smith. The totals by Lim and Smith were both career-highs. Kylie Snell '26 and Leonard each had four blocks and Sophie Weber '25 added 19 digs.

Grinnell bolted out to a 5-1 lead in the first set, with Keller serving two aces, and never looked back. The Pioneers continued their momentum into the second set, trailing only 2-1 early before holding command the rest of the way.

The third set was nip and tuck, with the teams tied 16-all before Grinnell broke away with a 4-0 run.

Grinnell steps out of league play Saturday when Luther College visits Darby for a 1 p.m. match.
