Plenty of swimmers enjoy big outings as Grinnell men toppled Iowa Central

GRINNELL, Iowa - Plenty of swimmers contributed for Grinnell College's men's team as the Pioneers opened their 2024-25 season on a big note Saturday.

Nine different swimmers tasted victory as Grinnell topped Iowa Central Community College 192-78 at Russell K. Osgood Pool.

Triple winners were Kevin Fitzgerald '25 and Evan Feilmeyer '28. Fitzgerald won the 100-yard freestyle in 47.60, the 20th-best time in program history, and was on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams that had times of 1:36.55 and 3:12.91, respectively.

Feilmeyer was also on both relay teams while adding a win in the 200 butterfly in 1:57.48, which ranks 14th all-time at Grinnell. Sam Larsen '25 and Chris Zhou '27 completed the medley team, while Adam Feilmeyer '25 and Aidan Donovan '28 rounded out the freestyle squad.

Noah Tsukuda '27 won the 500 and 1000 freestyles in 4:53.41 and 10:07.64. Other champs were Larsen in the 200 backstroke (1:59.67), Zhou in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.49), Donovan in the 50 freestyle (21.99), Keely Yeager '27 in the 200 breaststroke (2:20.57), Hayden Devorsetz '28 in 1-meter diving (198.53) and Diego Rodrigues '25 in the 200 individual medley (2:03.95).

Runners-up were Benke Grobler '27 in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley (1:01.60 and 2:04.86), Antoni Staszkiewicz '27 in the 200 butterfly (2:00.70), Jafar Jarrar '27 in the 50 freestyle (22.50), Donovan in the 100 freestyle (48.36), Cadel Saszik '28 in the 100 and 200 backstrokes (53.54 and 2:00.14), Connor Smith '25 in the 200 breaststroke (2:23.45) and Fitzgerald in the 100 butterfly (53.36).

Grinnell is at the Simpson College Relays next Saturday.
