Grinnell women's soccer team earns 1-all draw in tough non-conference test

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Grinnell College's women's soccer team stepped out of league play Saturday, playing a strong Augustana College squad from the CCIW to a 1-all draw.

Grinnell got its goal not even eight minutes in when Katie Carson '25 found the back of the net for her second score of the season and fourth in her career.

The 6-4-2 Pioneers made that stick most of the first half before Augustana scored just three minutes before halftime. The score remained the same the rest of the contest.

The 7-4-4 Vikings won the shots battle 11-7. Ella Hunt '26 had four of Grinnell's shots, while Tessa Leahy '25, Carson and Rama Joshi '27 added one apiece.

Grinnell, which held a 3-2 lead in corner kicks, got a six-save performance from Peyton Dixon '27 at the keeper spot.

The Pioneers finish the regular season with four consecutive league matches, beginning with a home test Tuesday against Cornell College. Action at Springer Field begins at 4 p.m.
