Perrin ties school record for doubles victories as Pioneers remain perfect this season

APPLETON, Wis. - On a day when Lily Perrin '25 tied the school record for career doubles victories, Grinnell College took a step closer to defending its Midwest Conference women's tennis title.

Perrin won two doubles matches Saturday in the Pioneers' 7-0 shutouts of Ripon College and Lawrence University, giving her 71 doubles wins for her career. That ties her with former Pioneers Amelia Cogan and Shirlene Luk.

Perrin also won twice in singles, giving her 46 career victories. That ranks 17th in GC history.

Grinnell remains unbeaten on the season at 7-0 while owning a 5-0 mark in MWC play. Next weekend's match at Lake Forest College will determine the league champ.

The Pioneers have posted 44 victories in a row against league foes, dating back to 2018-19. Of those wins, 34 have been by shutout.

Grinnell opened Saturday with a 7-0 shutout at Ripon College. The duos of Perrin-Kayla Surpless '28 and Sofia Bolanas '28-Addie Persian '27 each won 6-2 at the top doubles spots, while Alyssa Trapp '26 and Keira Healy '28 won 6-1 at No. 3.

The Pioneers swept singles plays with victories by Perrin (6-0, 6-0), Surpless (6-1, 6-2), Healy (6-4, 6-2), Trapp (6-2, 6-1), Persian (6-1, 6-0) and Nina Perkins '28 (7-5, 6-2).

Doubles winners against Lawrence were the duos of Perrin-Healy (6-1), Persian-Trapp (6-3) and Bolanos-Perkins (6-0). Singles winners were Perrin (6-1, 6-2), Surpless (6-2, 6-4), Trapp (6-1, 6-2), Persian (6-2, 7-5), Bolanos (6-0, 6-1) and Perkins (6-0, 6-1).

Besides playing Lake Forest next Saturday, Grinnell will also play at North Park University.
