GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's
Kevin Fitzgerald '25, who rewrote the Midwest Conference record book at last weekend's Pioneer Classic, has been named the league's Men's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week.
Fitzgerald, from West Bend, Wis. (West Bend East), set three individual MWC records and was part of a relay that broke another league mark as he earned Performer of the Week honors for the second time this season. New records came in the 200-yard individual medley (1 minute, 49.96 seconds), 400 individual medley (3:56.85), 100 butterfly (49.16) and 400 freestyle relay (3:02.64). He established NCAA "B" cut times in both individual medleys.
Fitzgerald was an eight-time champion at the meet, also claiming titles in the 200 freestyle relay (1:24.30), 800 freestyle relay (6:53.41), 200 medley relay (1:32.59) and 400 medley relay (3:22.49). Additionally, his 100 free leadoff split of 45.37 in the 400 free relay was a school record. In all, Fitzgerald had a hand in seven new meet records at the event.
Isabella Rozenbergas of Lake Forest College was named Women's Performer of the Week.
