Grinnell men's tennis team cruises past pair of MWC foes with 9-0 shutouts

GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College's men's tennis team has dominated the Midwest Conference for two decades, and that trend continued Saturday in the Bear Center Field House.

Grinnell opened MWC play with a pair of 9-0 victories to run its winning streak against league foes to 182, dating back to 2002-03. Additionally, Grinnell has posted shutouts in 29 of its last 32 matches against MWC opponents.

The nationally-ranked Pioneers opened the day by blanking Illinois College. Grinnell got doubles victories from the duos of Lucas Willett '26-Aiden Klass '25 (8-2), Sam Rudenberg '25-Henry Bridgers '24 (8-0) and Jacob Young '27-Wilder Cooke '25 (8-1).

In singles, winners were Young (6-1, 7-5), Anshul Satav '27 (6-1, 6-0), Luka Shaker-Check '25 (6-1, 6-1), Spencer Skidmore '24 (6-0, 6-0), Keegan McLaughlin '27 (6-0, 6-0) and William Chhim '25 (6-0, 6-3).

Grinnell followed with a shutout of Monmouth College. Doubles winners were the duos of Shaker-Check and Satav (8-1) and Skidmore-McLaughlin (8-0). Grinnell won all four singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 shutouts with Satav, Skidmore, McLaughlin and Chhim.

Grinnell, 17-3 overall and 2-0 in the MWC, entertains Lake Forest College in a key league match next Saturday.
