Grinnell men set to face Ohio Northern in NCAA D-III Tourney opening round

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Grinnell College's men's tennis team will kick off its NCAA Division III Tournament journey Friday against Ohio Northern University.
 
The 32nd-ranked Pioneers bring a 24-3 mark into the 1:30 p.m. match on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Grinnell will be playing in its 17th consecutive NCAA Tourney after winning the Midwest Conference Tournament crown, defeating Lake Forest College 5-2 in the title match.
 
The MWC title is Grinnell's 20th in a row and 21st overall as the Pioneers extended their winning streak against league competition to 186 matches, dating back to 2002-03.
 
Ohio Northern is 19-5 and went through Ohio Athletic Conference play unbeaten before defeating Baldwin Wallace 5-0 in the tournament semifinals and John Carroll by a 5-2 score in the title match.
 
Friday's winner will meet 11th-ranked Denison University in the NCAA Tourney semifinals at noon Saturday. The other side of the bracket consists of 18th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus, Kalamazoo and the 14th-ranked host Warhawks.
