Grinnell women's tennis team remains unbeaten with pair of victories

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - Grinnell College's women's tennis team remained unbeaten on the season, shutting down Cornell College and St. Ambrose University Sunday.

Grinnell defeated Cornell 6-1 to stretch its winning streak against Midwest Conference foes to 42 matches, dating back to 2018-19.

Grinnell swept doubles play with the duos of Lily Perrin '25-Tan Mukherjee '26 (6-4), Utsah Kalra '25-Anika Sheth '26 (6-0) and Kalea Martin '25-Kayla Surpless '28 (6-0).

In singles, Kalra won 6-1, 7-6 at No. 1 singles. The Pioneers also won at Nos. 3 through 6 with Sydney Marin '25 (6-3, 6-4), Nehir Ergun '26 (6-0, 6-1), Keira Healy '28 (6-0, 6-0) and Nina Perkins '28 (6-0, 6-0).

In a 7-0 victory over NAIA foe St. Ambrose, Grinnell rolled through doubles play with the duos of Perrin-Marin (6-2), Ergun-Healy (6-4) and Sofia Bolanos '28-Addie Persian '27 (6-1).

Singles winners were Perrin (6-2, 6-2), Sheth (6-1, 6-2), Kayla Surpless '28 (6-2, 6-0), Martin (6-1, 6-1), Bolanos (6-2, 6-1) and Persian (6-0, 6-0).

Perrin now has 69 career doubles victories, third in program history and just two away from matching the school record. She also has 44 singles wins, which ranks 19th.

Grinnell heads to Wisconsin next weekend, playing at Ripon College and Lawrence University on Saturday.
