Year changes, result doesn't: GC women's golf claims 13th conference championship in a row

UNION, Mo. - The number 13 has turned out to be a lucky one for the Grinnell College women's golf team.


The Pioneers claimed their 13th consecutive league title Tuesday, easily taking top honors at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Championships at Birch Creek Golf Club. That provided Grinnell with the league's automatic berth to next spring's NCAA Division III Championships.

Grinnell, which has won seven SLIAC titles in a row after claiming six straight as part of the Midwest Conference, fired a three-day total of 904. That 54-hole score ranks second in program history after last year's total of 873.

awaardsKavya Keshav '26, who claimed the SLIAC individual title as a first-year athlete, again took top honors with a total of 2-over-par 218. That score ranks fourth in program history. Keshav fired an even-par 72 on Tuesday, riding a steady round that included pars on 16 holes as well as a birdie and bogey. 

Grinnell's Connor McKay was voted SLIAC Coach of the Year by his peers.

Vidushi Keni '26 took second place, shooting 75 on Tuesday for an overall score of 227. She also had one birdie on the final day.

Waverly Yang '28 and Emily Lackershire '27 tied for fourth with 230s, with Lackershire shooting 75 on Tuesday and Yang a 76. Yang posted two birdies on the final 18 holes and Lackershire had one.

Next in line for Grinnell was Saya Geisendorfer '27, who shot 74 for a total of 233. Her round included an amazing four birdies as she finished sixth overall. Geisendorfer won the Sportsmanship Award for the Pioneers.

Amy Nguyen '26 placed eighth with a 237, shooting 77 on the final day with the aid of a jaw-dropping five birdies. Sara Meneses '26 added a 75 on Tuesday with the aid of two birdies to finish 13th with a 245.

Keshav, Keni, Yang, Lackershire and Nguyen earned first-team All-Conference honors with their finishes.

Lake Forest College was a distant second in the team standings, finishing 43 shots behind the Pioneers at 947.
