Pioneer men post more strong performances at University of Chicago meet

CHICAGO - Another day of impressive performances, while competing against some of the nation's best, was again the case for the Grinnell College men's swimming and diving team.

At the University of Chicago Phoenix Fall Classic Saturday, Grinnell was ninth in both relays contested as Evan Ingraham '29, Keely Yeager '27, Spencer Pfaff '29 and Aidan Donovan '28 swam the 200-yard medley in 1 minute, 31.93 seconds and Evan Feilmeyer '28, Noah Tsukuda '27, Rommin Adl '26 and Ingraham went 6:52.14 in the 800 freestyle. Those times each rank fourth in program history.

Ingraham was eighth in the 100 backstroke in 51.21 after swimming 51.09 in the prelims, a clocking that ranks seventh in GC history. Adl was 13th in the race in 51.37 and Cadel Saszik '28 placed 15th in 51.49.

Pfaff was 10th in the 100 butterfly in 50.29 and Ingraham placed 20th in 51.29. In the prelims, Pfaff swam 49.76, which ranks third in GC history, and Ingraham went 49.93, which is fourth. Also in the event, Gavin Stiglitz '28 swam 51.27 and Ryan Lim '29 finished in 52.16, times that rank 11th and 17th on the all-time list, respectively.

Feilmeyer swam 1:39.33 in the 200 freestyle to finish 11th. That time ranks second in program history. Also in the race, Donovan went 1:44.11, which ranks 17th all-time.

Keely Yeager '27 was 16th in the 100 breaststroke in 57.21.

Grinnell remained sixth in the team standings with 568 points. Eighth-ranked New York University is the leader at 1768.5.

The meet concludes Sunday.
