Fitzgerald, Feilmeyer earn individual awards at MWC Championships

GRINNELL, Iowa - After helping Grinnell College to yet another Midwest Conference Men's Swimming and Diving title, Kevin Fitzgerald '25 and Evan Feilmeyer '28 picked up some extra accolades.

Fitzgerald was named the MWC Swimmer of the Year, while Feilmeyer earned MWC Newcomer of the Year honors.

Fitzgerald won six events at the meet, including individual titles in the 200-yard and 400 individual medleys. He was also on the winning 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams, as well as the 400 medley relay quartet. He added a runner-up finish in the 100 freestyle.

Feilmeyer won seven event titles, with individual crowns in the 200 and 500 freestyles and 200 butterfly. He was also on the first-place 400 and 800 freestyle relay units and 200 and 400 medley relay teams.

Other men's individual award winners were Lawrence University's Jackson Bertman (Diver of the Year), Lake Forest College's Clayton Berg (Elite 20) and Christopher Sykes of Illinois College (Coach of the Year).

Women's winners were Lake Forest's Isabella Rozenbergas (Swimmer of the Year) and Caprice Kalvelage (Elite 20), St. Norbert College's Adelle Polzin (Diver of the Year), Beloit College's Lydia Nordgren (Newcomer of the Year) and Monmouth College's Jacob Dacus (Coach of the Year).
