Results

MONMOUTH, Ill. - Hannah Roark '26 raced to her first Midwest Conference title and the Pioneers' 4x200-meter relay team set a school record to put the Grinnell College women's track and field team in the lead at the league indoor championships Friday.

Roark won the mile in 5 minutes, 1.53 seconds, a season-best time that ranks third in program history. She beat the runner-up from Ripon College by just under a second. Roark is Grinnell's first champ in the MWC mile since current assistant coach Sarah Burnell achieved the feat in 2014.

The 4x200 quartet of Lily Mayo '28, Ava Taylor '25, Maile Crowe '25 and Rajanea Landers '28 finished in 1:47.00, placing second in the event and shattering the previous school mark of 1:47.58 set in 2013.

Grinnell has 55 points after the first day of competition, leading host Monmouth College by nine.

The Pioneers were impressive in the mile, to say the least. Besides Roark's victory, Tennyson Shultz '28 placed fourth in 5:20.21 and Sindri Bonner 28 took fifth in 5:20.74. Those times rank eighth and ninth in program history.

In the 5000, Genevieve Madigan '28 was third in 18:29.47, Hannah Roth '27 placed fifth in 18:30.85 and Emma Wharton-Hsieh '27 took eighth in 19:16.25. Madigan's time ranks eighth in program history and Roth's clocking is ninth.

Mayo, Taylor, Crowe and Noelle Vu '28 placed third in the sprint medley relay with a time of 4:19.90, which is sixth in program history. Mayo added a fifth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.01 meters, while Landers placed sixth in 4.93. Landers' effort is fifth in GC history.

Kylie Galowitz '26 placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 11.74 meters. Jessica Goodman '26 qualified third in the 60 hurdles with a prelim time of 10.22. Taylor made the 60 dash final by running 8.23, qualifying eighth.

The meet continues Saturday.
