Pioneer men's tennis team rolls by 2 foes at UW-Whitewater Tournament

Grinnell coasts past Wheaton, Luther

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. - Grinnell College breezed to a pair of victories to remain unbeaten on the men's tennis season Saturday.

Competing in the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament, the 32nd-ranked Pioneers toppled Wheaton College 5-2 and Luther College 6-1 to move to 4-0 on the season.

Three Grinnell players went a perfect 4-0 on the day - Wilder Cooke '25, Lucas Willett '26 and Henry Park '28. Aiden Klass '25, Sam Rudenberg '25 and Karch Knoll '25 all won three times.

Grinnell swept doubles against Wheaton with the duos of Klass-Willett (7-5), Rudenberg-Cooke (7-6) and Knoll-Park (6-2). Cooke added a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles and Willett won 6-3, 7-6 at No. 2. Other singles winners were Rudenberg at No. 4 (2-6, 6-3,1-0) and Park at No. 5 (6-0, 6-1).

The Pioneers also swept doubles against Luther with the teams of Klass-Willett (6-4), Rudenberg-Cooke (7-6) and Knoll-Park (6-3). The Pioneers won the top four singles spots with Cooke (6-4, 6-1), Willett (6-2, 6-3), Klass (6-4, 7-5) and Knoll (6-2, 7-5). Park added a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 6.

The Pioneers meet tourney host UW-Whitewater in a battle of ranked teams Sunday.
