GREENSBORO, N.C. - Kevin Fitzgerald '25 posted the highest national finish by a Grinnell College men's swimmer in 11 years with a strong showing at the NCAA Division III Championships Wednesday.

Fitzgerald finished 14th in the 200-yard individual medley at the Greensboro Aquatic Center with a time of 1 minute, 49.12 seconds. That is GC's best finish at the NCAAs since Michael Brus placed 11th in the 200 backstroke in 2014.

Fitzgerald, who earned second-team All-America honors with his finish, recorded a Midwest Conference and school record time of 1:48.52 in the morning preliminaries. That bettered his previous mark of 1:48.99.

Also in Wednesday's prelims, Grinnell's quartet of Rommin Adl '26, Fitzgerald, Evan Feilmeyer '28 and Aidan Donovan '28 set a MWC and school record in the 400 medley relay. Their time of 3:19.27 was good for 21st place and bettered the previous record of 3:20.82 set in 2024.

The meet continues Thursday with Fitzgerald competing in the 400 IM and Adl, Fitzgerald, Feilmeyer and Donovan taking part in the 200 freestyle relay.
