Sam Rudenberg reaches 100 career victories

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Grinnell College's men's tennis team took a step closer to winning another Midwest Conference regular-season title Saturday afternoon, rolling past Lake Forest College by a 6-1 count.

Sam Rudenberg '25 won a match in singles play during the victory, giving him 100 career wins. He is the 29th GC player to achieve the feat.

The teams each were unbeaten in MWC play entering the day, but Grinnell quickly changed that. The Pioneers earned the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3 with the duos of Lucas Willett '26-Aiden Klass '25 (6-1) and Karch Knoll '25-Albert Bostoen '26 (6-0).

Grinnell continued its dominance in singles with wins by Wilder Cooke '25 at No. 1 (6-1, 7-5), Willett at No. 2 (7-6, 6-7, 1-0), Klass at No. 4 (3-6, 6-4, 1-0), Henry Park '27 at No. 5 (6-2, 6-1) and Rudenberg at No. 6 (6-3, 6-1).

Grinnell, which has won 192 consecutive matches against MWC foes dating back to 2002-03, improved to 9-10 while the Foresters fell to 7-9.

During the day's action, Cooke moved up to 23rd in GC history with 51 singles victories and Klass jumped to 25th for doubles wins with 54.

Grinnell has a tough task Sunday, facing fourth-ranked University of Chicago.
